Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd is moving ahead with a major expansion of its pharmaceutical manufacturing footprint in India by investing ₹2,300 crore in a new greenfield facility at Rambilli Industrial Park in the Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh.

The project, backed by this substantial capital outlay, aims to bolster the company’s contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) capabilities and strengthen India’s position in global pharmaceutical supply chains.

The manufacturing complex will be developed in phases across a site of around 102 acres and is expected to begin operations by the financial year 2028-29. It will house production units for specialty intermediates such as contrast media intermediates, high-intensity sweeteners and multipurpose chemistry products, deepening the company’s portfolio beyond its existing lines.

The facility is projected to generate significant employment in the region, with an estimated 1,750 direct jobs and another 250 indirect positions spawning from ancillary and support services connected to the new plant.

Strategically, the unit will integrate advanced environmental technologies, including a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system and a modern effluent treatment plant designed to substantially cut energy usage and maximise wastewater recovery — moves aimed at meeting evolving global environmental, social and governance (ESG) compliance standards critical to international pharmaceutical supply chains.

Blue Jet Healthcare, originally founded in 1968 as Jet Chemicals Pvt Ltd, has evolved into an integrated CDMO serving markets in India, Europe and the United States. Its decision to base the new facility in Andhra Pradesh aligns with broader efforts by manufacturers and state authorities to develop robust industrial clusters along India’s east coast, particularly for high-value chemical and pharmaceutical production.

The foundation stone for the project is being laid with participation from senior state officials, underscoring both corporate and regional government support for the expansion as a catalyst for industrial growth in the Visakhapatnam economic region.
