India’s scientific landscape is moving into a new era — one where the focus is shifting from adopting global innovations to generating its own. Uncoded, an initiative by Premas Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., embodies this transformation. Uncoded is more than just a brand — it is a vision to empower India’s researchers and clinicians with effective, indigenous solutions that capture the spirit of Make in India while matching the highest global standards. It goes beyond creating products; it is about fostering confidence, strengthening capability, and shaping a future where Indian innovation earns its rightful place on the world stage. Premas Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, a leader in genomics and life sciences solutions, proudly announces the launch of the R&D Facility of it’s division – Uncoded - in New Delhi. With this landmark step, the company reinforces its vision to develop, manufacture, and deliver India-made, globally relevant solutions in genomics, proteomics, and multi-omics.
Uncoded is Premas’ strategic response to India’s growing need for cost-effective, locally manufactured biotech tools. The newly launched facility is equipped for assay development, molecular design, validation workflows, and end-to-end innovation pipelines. A visual launch video released today highlights this transformation.
“With the launch of Uncoded’s R&D Facility, we’re not just building infrastructure, we’re building India’s capacity to innovate and lead in next-generation science. Our legacy with Illumina has taught us the value of trust and excellence. With Uncoded, we carry that forward by developing homegrown solutions that meet global benchmarks.” Praveen Gupta, Managing Director, Premas Life Sciences Pvt Ltd.
Over the past 18 years, Premas has played a pivotal role in shaping the Indian genomics landscape through strategic partnerships with global leaders including Illumina, Twist Bioscience, Olink, Covaris, and others. By introducing Illumina’s industry-defining sequencing platforms to India, Premas helped democratize genomics and accelerate adoption of next-generation sequencing across academia, healthcare, and translational research. With Uncoded, Premas now steps into the role of innovator and co-developer, moving from enabling access to designing solutions.
Uncoded has already begun delivering on its promise of homegrown innovation. Its first wave of India-made solutions includes the 16S V3–V4 Library Preparation Kit, enabling researchers to generate high-accuracy microbial insights with robust sequencing workflows. Alongside this flagship launch, Uncoded has introduced the Myeloid Profiler DNA Panel, Myeloid Profiler RNA Panel, HPV-STI Genomap, and SeqSight, each designed to address critical needs in oncology, infectious disease, and clinical genomics. These pioneering products are built in India, for India, while matching global standards of quality, reliability, and performance. Looking ahead, Uncoded’s innovation pipeline is set to expand with the upcoming OmniPreserve, BRCA and HRR gene panels, and HotSpot assays, underscoring its commitment to building a comprehensive multi-omics portfolio.
“This is just the beginning. We are building an agile, scalable innovation pipeline with a strong focus on NGS kits, gene panels, proteomics assays, and multi-omics workflows. Our strength lies in being able to respond to India’s research needs while upholding global performance standards.” Dr. Sanjay Ghawana, Head of R&D, Uncoded.
Uncoded’s growth model is grounded in active partnerships, with clinicians, academic labs, startups, and pharmaceutical researchers to co-create solutions that solve real scientific and operational problems. With local manufacturing, strong quality systems, and full technical support, Uncoded aims to serve as a reliable partner to researchers at every stage of their workflow.
“The Indian scientific community is ready for homegrown, high-quality solutions backed by trust and data. The reception to our first kit validated that there is a deep appetite for India-built tools that don’t compromise on quality or performance. With Uncoded, we are answering that call.” Dr. Debjani Saha, Assistant General Manager, Marketing.
The R&D hub has also been built to support scale-up for future product lines and joint development programs. These include targeted DNA/RNA sequencing kits, cancer diagnostics, and proteomics discovery workflows, all designed to serve both Indian and global markets. The team is also exploring AI-powered tools to enable data-driven research insights, ensuring end-to-end support across discovery and translational research. As the first chapter in the Uncoded story begins, it’s clear that what started as a vision is now becoming a reality, gaining steady momentum.
