Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, has announced a significant leadership transition. Vinod P Chanrai, a long-standing Trustee and key figure in the hospital’s governance and digital transformation journey, has been appointed as the new Chairman. Kanta Masand, who has served with distinction as Chairperson, will now assume the honorary role of Chairperson Emeritus.
Chanrai brings a strong background in technology, governance, and strategic planning, having played a pivotal role in advancing Jaslok’s IT systems, strengthening corporate governance, and supporting its academic mission. In his new role, he will focus on deepening digital innovation and integrating artificial intelligence into patient care.
“Being entrusted with the Chairmanship of Jaslok Hospital is both an honour and a responsibility,” said Chanrai. “Inspired by the enduring values upheld by Mrs. Masand, I look forward to leading Jaslok into a new era of compassionate, resilient, and technologically advanced healthcare. Our path forward includes embracing innovation, strengthening our academic initiatives, and leveraging AI to enhance patient outcomes.”
Kanta Masand’s tenure as Chairperson was marked by transformational achievements in clinical excellence, infrastructure, and social responsibility. She led the establishment of the Jaslok Annex during the COVID-19 pandemic and played a key role in Mumbai’s private sector vaccination drive under CSR. Her longstanding support for the Bal Asha orphanage further underscores her commitment to social impact.
Reflecting on her journey, Masand shared, “Jaslok has always been more than a hospital — it is a living embodiment of care, compassion, and purpose, where tradition meets progress. It has been my life’s honour to serve this institution. As I step into the role of Chairperson Emeritus, I remain dedicated to preserving our founding values and supporting the hospital’s strategic vision. With Vinod’s forward-looking leadership, I am confident that Jaslok is ready to meet the future with heart and strength.”
