Gleneagles Hospital in Parel, Mumbai, has joined hands with Medtronic India to open a dedicated Renal Denervation Therapy Centre focused on the management of resistant hypertension, a condition where high blood pressure remains uncontrolled despite the use of multiple medications.

The new facility is designed to provide structured clinical assessment, expert-led treatment and ongoing follow-up care for eligible patients. Its services will include comprehensive evaluations, patient counselling, optimisation of medication regimens and access to renal denervation therapy as part of a multidisciplinary approach to improve blood pressure control and reduce the risk of heart, brain and kidney complications associated with persistent hypertension.

The centre brings together specialists from cardiology, nephrology and internal medicine to deliver coordinated, personalised care pathways. Alongside interventional treatment, the team will emphasise lifestyle guidance, close monitoring and tailored medication adjustments to support sustained blood pressure management.

The programme’s clinical leadership includes cardiologist and director Dr Rahul Gupta, nephrologist and director Dr Bharat Shah, senior consultant cardiologist Dr V M Reddy and senior consultant nephrologist Dr Prashant Rajput. The centre responds to a growing burden of hypertension driven by factors such as stress, unhealthy diet, obesity and physical inactivity, and aims to address delays in diagnosis, low awareness and inconsistent follow-up care that often complicate long-term blood pressure control.

Hospital CEO Dr Bipin Chevale highlighted that the collaboration with Medtronic will support a more structured approach to managing resistant hypertension by combining clinical expertise with advanced technology. Medtronic India’s managing director and vice president Mandeep Singh Kumar noted that the partnership seeks to enhance awareness, strengthen diagnosis and improve long-term outcomes for patients with complex and resistant high blood pressure.
