Emirates Health Services (EHS) has unveiled a series of transformative initiatives to modernise radiology services, aligning with the UAE’s digital transformation goals and commitment to enhancing quality of life.
According to Dr. Amina Al Jasmi, Director of the Radiology Department at EHS, the strategy focuses on expanding artificial intelligence (AI) integration, streamlining workflows, upgrading imaging equipment, and strengthening the technical and operational infrastructure of radiology departments.
EHS is enhancing infrastructure across multiple facilities with advanced digital imaging systems, high-resolution ultrasound technologies, and smart interfaces to support clinical decision-making. Imaging rooms are also being redesigned for improved patient comfort.
EHS has deployed AI solutions in four critical areas:
Early breast cancer detection via mammogram analysis
Chest imaging analysis for lung diseases, including tuberculosis
Automated detection of subtle fractures invisible to the human eye
Proactive osteoporosis diagnosis through incidental X-ray analysis
AI integration has improved image quality, reduced diagnostic turnaround, and enhanced patient experience. Repeat breast imaging visits dropped by 88%, while wait times decreased from 19 days to just one day, enabling same-day diagnosis.
Radiology services are now fully connected to EHS’s digital platforms, linking imaging reports and appointment services to its smart app. Patients can instantly access results, book or modify appointments, and receive updates electronically.
Dr. Amina emphasised that these advancements strengthen precision, efficiency, and integration within UAE’s healthcare ecosystem, enabling faster, more accurate, and patient-friendly radiology services in line with the nation’s vision for a modern, secure, and innovative digital health system.
