As of August 5, 2025, a total of 1,78,154 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) have been made operational across both urban and rural areas of India, according to data reported by States and Union Territories on the AAM portal.
These centres are transforming Sub Health Centres (SHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) into fully functional facilities delivering comprehensive primary healthcare. AAMs offer a broad spectrum of services, including preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative care, addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), as well as maternal and child health, and other essential services.
A key feature of the initiative is home visits by primary healthcare teams, aimed at identifying early risk factors for NCDs. These are followed by screenings at AAMs and referrals to PHCs or higher-level facilities for specialist care when required.
Teleconsultation services are available at all operational AAMs, including those in remote rural areas. These services enhance access to specialist care, overcoming geographical barriers and healthcare workforce shortages. To date, 38.13 crore teleconsultations have been conducted through AAMs.
In addition to illness management, AAMs focus on health promotion and disease prevention. They regularly host wellness activities such as yoga sessions, cycling events, and meditation, contributing to a holistic health approach. So far, 5.79 crore wellness sessions have been organized through these centres.
