Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar has approved the construction of permanent buildings for 4,472 Village Health Clinics (VHCs) at an estimated cost of ₹1,129 crore, with 80% of funding provided by the Centre. The projects are to be completed within one year.

Currently, the State operates 10,032 VHCs across 26 districts, but only 1,086 clinics function from government-owned buildings. The fresh allocation will ensure completion of 2,309 partially built structures, stalled between 2019–24 due to delayed fund release, and construction of 2,163 new buildings.

Of these, 696 will be developed under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and 1,467 using 15th Finance Commission grants. Construction will be carried out by the Panchayat Raj Department.

The Minister noted that while the previous government had completed only 3,105 buildings out of 8,946 planned, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of Ayushman Health Centres has enabled renewed support. With central financial assistance, Andhra Pradesh is set to significantly expand permanent infrastructure for village-level healthcare delivery.
