AIIMS Patna has initiated a week-long awareness programme on newborn and child safety, beginning September 8 under the hospital’s Patient Safety Cell. The campaign aims to educate people on essential care during pregnancy and early childhood to ensure the well-being of both mothers and babies.
The initiative is being conducted under the guidance of Executive Director Dr. S. Varshney. Speaking at the event, Nodal Patient Safety Officer Dr. Divendu Bhushan said, “Every pregnant woman should know about the importance of safety for newborns.” He emphasized the need for regular weight checks and timely vaccinations, highlighting their role in healthy growth.
The programme was inaugurated by Officiating Medical Superintendent Dr. Amit Raj and Dean Academic Dr. Sanjay Pandey. Senior specialists, including Dr. Mukta Agarwal (Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and Dr. Bhavesh Kant (Head of Neonatology), along with faculty members Dr. R.K. Mondal, Dr. Ratesh Nair, and Dr. Hushmukh Jain, also participated in the launch.
Throughout the week, AIIMS Patna will host a variety of activities such as poster presentations, outreach programmes, rangoli competitions, and basic life support (BLS) training for security guards. Doctors explained that these activities are designed not just to raise awareness but also to provide families and hospital staff with practical skills.
The hospital hopes the campaign will encourage families to adopt better practices in maternal and newborn care.
