AIIMS Mangalagiri has taken a significant step forward in advanced cardiac and neurovascular care with the installation of a seventh-generation Azurion Biplane Cath Lab system, a cutting-edge interventional imaging platform. Installed at a cost of ₹11 crore, this state-of-the-art technology enables high-precision cardiac, neurovascular, and complex endovascular procedures with exceptional image clarity and reduced radiation exposure.
Known for its real-time 3D navigation and seamless software integration, the Azurion system enhances diagnostic accuracy while prioritizing patient safety. According to a statement from the institute, the new facility will greatly reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized procedures, making world-class care more accessible in the region.
Dr. Ahanthem Santa Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Mangalagiri, remarked, “The installation of this advanced system places us at the forefront of interventional cardiovascular and neurovascular care. It enhances our ability to deliver accurate, safe, and high-quality services, improving clinical outcomes and patient experience.”
In addition to the Cath Lab system, the institute has also introduced a Treadmill Test (TMT) machine in its cardiology department. A key non-invasive diagnostic tool, the TMT evaluates cardiac fitness and detects early signs of coronary artery disease (CAD). Also known as a stress test or exercise ECG, it allows cardiologists to assess the heart’s function during physical exertion—supporting timely diagnosis of ischemic heart disease, rhythm abnormalities, and exercise-induced symptoms.
