AIIMS Bhubaneswar has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Centre for Neuromodulation Services within its Department of Psychiatry, marking a significant advancement in mental healthcare.

The facility is designed to offer new hope for patients with drug-resistant and difficult-to-treat psychiatric conditions through non-invasive brain stimulation therapies.

Executive Director Prof. Ashutosh Biswas highlighted that the initiative reflects AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s commitment to delivering the latest medical technologies to Odisha and beyond.

The centre is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), ultra-brief pulse electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and transcranial electrical stimulation (TES). These treatments work by modulating specific brain circuits, providing targeted, precise, and well-tolerated alternatives to conventional methods for psychiatric, neuropsychiatric, and substance use disorders.

Dean Prof. Biswa Ranjan Mishra added that the facility will serve as a beacon of hope, offering advanced treatment options for individuals who have not found relief with traditional approaches.
