Teal Health®, a virtual women’s health company focused on eliminating cervical cancer, has announced the general availability of its Teal Wand™ — the first FDA-authorized self-collection device for at-home cervical cancer screening in the U.S.

Now available in California, the kit can be ordered through getteal.com using in-network insurance, credit card, or HSA/FSA. The service includes both the Teal Wand sample-collection kit and a complete telehealth experience, with virtual consultations, result reviews, and coordination of any follow-up care.

Traditionally, cervical cancer screenings (Pap smears) are done in-clinic, but many women find them uncomfortable and inconvenient. Teal offers a comfortable, private, and equally accurate alternative, as confirmed by clinical trial data. The SELF-CERV trial showed that 94% of women preferred Teal over the standard method.

Since receiving FDA authorization in May, Teal’s waitlist has exceeded 32,000, and shipments have begun to hundreds of early adopters. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with a 4.95/5 average satisfaction score. Many women using Teal were either underscreened or had never screened before.

The Teal Wand tests for HPV (human papillomavirus) — the primary cause of cervical cancer — using the same Roche cobas® HPV test recommended by medical guidelines. Women aged 25–65, at average risk, can collect their sample at home and mail it to a certified lab for analysis.

Teal aims to help the U.S. meet its cervical cancer elimination targets, following Australia’s lead, where self-collection adoption has accelerated progress toward eradication by 2035. Plans are in place to expand beyond California and offer nationwide availability by the end of 2026.
