Saudi Arabia has taken a major leap into the future of healthcare with the launch of the world’s first AI-powered clinic, developed by Chinese medical technology startup Synyi AI, based in Shanghai. As artificial intelligence gains momentum across the Kingdom—highlighted by the Public Investment Fund’s tech initiatives and AI’s inclusion in high school curriculums—this clinic marks a significant milestone in integrating advanced technologies into public services.

At the heart of the clinic is “Doctor Hua,” an AI system capable of independently managing the full medical process—from initial inquiry to diagnosis and prescribing treatment. Patients interact with Doctor Hua through a tablet, explaining their symptoms, after which the AI asks follow-up questions, analyses medical data such as X-rays and cardiograms, and generates a treatment plan.

The AI works hand-in-hand with human doctors, who act as safety reviewers, approving the AI’s recommendations before they are finalized. Human physicians are also on hand for emergencies or complex cases that require direct intervention.

To ensure safety, the system operates under a three-level protection framework, offering multilingual and culturally tailored services to meet regional needs. The clinic integrates seamlessly with advanced medical devices like digital stethoscopesintelligent laryngoscopes, and AI-powered imaging systems, providing a comprehensive and efficient healthcare experience.

This initiative positions Saudi Arabia at the forefront of global healthcare innovation, blending cutting-edge technology with human oversight to enhance both access and quality of care.
