India's Clinicians Rapidly Embrace AI, Adoption Triples in a Year

A recent global report indicates that over 40% of clinicians in India are now utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in their professional practice, marking a significant increase from just 12% the previous year. This surge places India ahead of countries like the United States (36%) and the United Kingdom (34%) in AI adoption among healthcare professionals.

The 'Clinician of the Future 2025' report, published by Elsevier, surveyed approximately 2,200 clinicians across 109 countries, including 275 from India. It highlights India's rapid integration of AI into healthcare, with clinicians leveraging AI for tasks such as diagnostics, patient management, and administrative functions.

Despite this progress, the report notes that institutional challenges, including limited AI training, inadequate governance structures, and administrative burdens, pose risks to sustaining this momentum. Experts emphasize the need for targeted interventions to address these gaps and ensure that AI adoption translates into tangible improvements in healthcare delivery.

The findings underscore India's growing role as a leader in the global healthcare AI landscape, driven by a workforce eager to embrace technological advancements. However, sustained progress will depend on overcoming existing institutional barriers and fostering an environment conducive to innovation and effective AI integration.
