The Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Institute for Research in Digital Health and Data Science (ICMR-NIRDHDS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ARTPARK, the AI & Robotics Technology Park backed by the Indian Institute of Science, to deepen collaboration on digital health, data science and responsible artificial intelligence in India.
The partnership aims to bring together public health research leadership from ICMR-NIRDHDS with ARTPARK’s strengths in deep-tech innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence, robotics and large-scale data systems, to drive ethical, scalable digital health solutions. This includes advancing technologies and data-driven tools that can support health systems at national and state levels, linking biomedical research with practical, policy-relevant applications in real-world healthcare.
The collaboration is expected to support the development of open, trustworthy digital public infrastructure, promote responsible use of AI in health contexts, and foster innovation that can be deployed within government health programmes. A key focus of the partnership is on creating digital health systems that are contextually relevant and built on evidence, with an emphasis on ethical data use and interoperability across healthcare stakeholders.
By combining institutional research expertise with deep-tech capability, the MoU signals renewed momentum in India’s efforts to strengthen its digital health ecosystem. The partnership aligns with wider national priorities to use artificial intelligence and data science to improve healthcare delivery, public health decision-making, and population health outcomes.
The initiative also connects to broader work in the digital health space, including efforts to build standardized medical imaging datasets and federated health AI innovation platforms that support secure, privacy-preserving solutions for India’s diverse population.
