Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the rollout of a contactless, artificial intelligence-powered remote patient monitoring system in Guwahati as part of efforts to modernise public healthcare infrastructure.
The world’s first AI-based remote monitoring platform, developed by Lord’s Mark Industries Ltd, has been installed in a step-down Intensive Care Unit at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital’s newly established medical college complex.
The deployment marks the first implementation of an AI-driven hospital care model within India’s public health system and is expected to enhance continuous, non-invasive tracking of vital parameters, enabling early clinical risk detection and real-time insights for healthcare providers.
The system’s integration into the step-down ICU aims to improve efficiency and patient safety by eliminating the need for physical contact while maintaining round-the-clock observation. It is designed to support faster clinical responses, improve infection control, and strengthen critical care delivery in high-dependency medical environments.
With this rollout, Assam becomes the first state in the country to operationalise such advanced AI-enabled clinical technology in a public health institution. Officials anticipate that the model could serve as a blueprint for expanding technology-driven care across other government health facilities.
The initiative aligns with broader state goals to upgrade healthcare services and demonstrate the potential of AI solutions to address real-world clinical challenges within India’s public sector.
