Norway has expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration with India in the health sector, following recognition of India’s rapid advances in digital health infrastructure, as per news reports.
The Norwegian Minister of Health and Care Services, Jan Christian Vestre, highlighted India’s development of population-scale digital public health systems, noting the country’s successful integration of electronic health records, telemedicine, artificial intelligence applications, and nationwide health registries.
Norway sees India’s model as a potential benchmark for improving healthcare delivery, particularly in expanding access to underserved populations while maintaining efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
The two countries are exploring avenues for joint initiatives in digital health innovation, knowledge sharing, and capacity building. Potential areas of cooperation include adopting India’s digital solutions to improve patient management, teleconsultation services, remote diagnostics, and AI-powered predictive health tools. India’s experience in scaling healthcare technology across diverse and populous regions has been cited as particularly instructive for Norway and other nations seeking to strengthen their health systems.
Officials from both sides are reportedly engaging in discussions to formalise partnerships, exchange expertise, and support collaborative research in health informatics, e-health policy frameworks, and digital public health strategies.
