Afghanistan’s Public Health Minister, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, is likely to visit India this week, marking another high-level engagement between the two countries. If confirmed, this would be the third visit by a senior Afghan minister to India in recent months, following earlier visits by the foreign and commerce ministers.
The visit is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in the healthcare sector, an area where India and Afghanistan have maintained close engagement. Healthcare collaboration has remained a key pillar of bilateral interaction, including medical assistance, training, and access to treatment facilities.
New Delhi has already been backing key medical infrastructure projects in Afghanistan and providing medicines and vaccines to strengthen public health services. The proposed visit underscores the continued emphasis on health-related cooperation and people-centric engagement between the two neighbours.
