The Jharkhand government has allocated ₹323.94 crore for the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department under its third supplementary budget for the 2025–26 financial year, reflecting continued efforts to pace development and address emerging needs in the social sector.
The ₹6,450 crore supplementary budget was tabled in the Jharkhand Assembly by Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, with allocations spanning health, rural infrastructure, social welfare, and energy among other priority areas.
The supplementary budget is introduced when the original budget provisions prove insufficient or new expenditures arise during the fiscal year. In the Assembly, the finance minister explained that the additional outlay was required to accelerate key development works and respond to unforeseen requirements as the year progresses. The main budget for 2026–27 is scheduled to be presented on 24 February 2026.
Under the third supplementary budget, a health allocation of ₹323.94 crore reflects the state’s ongoing efforts to bolster healthcare infrastructure and services in response to evolving public health challenges. In recent years, Jharkhand has also pursued initiatives to expand medical education, including proposals to upgrade district hospitals into medical colleges, though these plans are still at varying stages of approval and implementation.
This supplementary provision will now be taken up for discussion in the Assembly, where members may propose modifications before the demands are put to a vote. The move underscores the state government’s continued focus on advancing healthcare and development priorities while maintaining fiscal discipline.
