The Andhra Pradesh government has increased its health sector allocation to ₹19,306 crore for the 2026–27 financial year, marking a 9.5 per cent rise over the revised estimate of ₹17,637.24 crore for 2025–26.

Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav stated that the health sector now ranks fourth in overall budget allocations among all departments, reflecting the government’s emphasis on strengthening healthcare delivery.

The enhanced allocation accounts for 5.81 per cent of the state’s total ₹3.32 lakh crore budget.

The health budget includes substantial departmental and programme-specific outlays, with ₹9,380.73 crore earmarked for medical education, ₹5,352.62 crore for health and family welfare, ₹2,582.66 crore for public health, ₹1,549.11 crore for the directorate of secondary health services and ₹385.25 crore for AYUSH systems.

A ₹4,000 crore allocation has been set aside for the Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, while government medical colleges and teaching hospitals are to receive ₹2,819.31 crore for development.

The budget further allocates ₹600 crore for drug procurement, ₹222.24 crore for 108 emergency ambulance servicesand ₹128.89 crore for 104 medical helpline services. Diagnostic services in rural and urban primary health centres have been funded with ₹127.83 crore, and ₹110 crore has been allotted for multi-speciality hospitals in tribal areas. The state has also revived the NTR Baby Kit scheme with an allocation of ₹51.15 crore.

Under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), Andhra Pradesh has provided ₹838 crore, nearly double the revised allocation of ₹421.38 crore from the previous year. These funds are expected to bolster critical care blocks, village health clinics, public health laboratories and related infrastructure across the state.

The increased health allocation follows the overall state budget presentation for 2026–27 in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, where the government emphasised balancing welfare, development and core public services in its fiscal planning.
