Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated a cutting-edge charitable diagnostic centre in Nagpur, developed under his vision to serve the city’s underserved communities. The Swargiya Bhanutai Gadkari Memorial Diagnostic Centre aims to provide high-quality diagnostic services—including MRI, CT scans, dialysis, digital X-rays, and blood testing—either free of cost or at highly subsidized rates.
What sets this centre apart is its 100% ‘Made in India’ equipment, designed and manufactured at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam. This not only underscores India's growing capabilities in healthcare innovation but also strengthens the push for self-reliance in medical technology.
Spread across a 6,000 sq. ft. fully air-conditioned facility, the centre operates on a completely paperless digital system powered by advanced servers. It is managed by the Swargiya Bhanutai Gadkari Gramin Vikas Sanstha, and is designed to benefit North Nagpur as well as other underserved parts of the city. Equipped with five high-performance dialysis machines and advanced digital radiology units, the facility significantly enhances access to diagnostic care.
Speaking at the inauguration, Nitin Gadkari said,
“This centre embodies our commitment to ensuring that even the poorest citizens have access to world-class healthcare. With AMTZ's support, we’re not only extending healthcare access to the last mile but also showcasing India’s strength in MedTech innovation.”
Key medical systems at the facility include the 1.5 Tesla Clarity MRI scanner and the Inspiration 64 Smart CT scanner, both developed at AMTZ and certified by CDSCO, AERB, and BIS. The MRI system features MUSIC technology and a wide-bore, short-magnet design for better patient comfort and imaging efficiency. The CT scanner is capable of completing chest scans in 6 seconds and angiography in under 32 seconds, ensuring high-speed, precision diagnostics.
Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD and Founding CEO of AMTZ, highlighted the broader significance:
“This centre proves that India can now produce world-class diagnostic technologies domestically. It not only brings down costs but also promotes healthcare accessibility and self-reliance.”
The inauguration was attended by dignitaries including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Dr. Jitendra Sharma. CM Fadnavis commended the initiative and invited AMTZ to collaborate with the state government in replicating such diagnostic centres across Maharashtra.
