FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation, a leader in diagnostic and enterprise imaging, announced that a major East Coast health system spanning five geographic regions has selected Synapse® Pathology and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate diagnoses and advance digital transformation in pathology.
This first-of-its-kind deployment in North America will digitize pathology operations across all five sites, supported by a fully cloud-based AWS infrastructure. Synapse Pathology, a comprehensive digital pathology PACS, delivers images for diagnosis nearly two hours faster than traditional glass slides. A hybrid architecture—combining on-premises infrastructure with scalable AWS solutions—ensures high performance today and agility for future growth.
Deep integration with Epic Beaker, the health system’s LIS, enables automated case synchronization, real-time status updates, and seamless workflows. Clinicians can access pathology images and case data directly within Epic, streamlining operations and minimizing disruptions.
“This deployment is a milestone in enterprise-wide, cloud-hosted digital pathology, transforming how care teams collaborate, diagnose, and treat disease,” said Mark Lloyd, VP of Digital Pathology at Fujifilm. AWS GM Dan Sheeran added that the initiative will enhance care for over 1.3 million patients, showcasing cloud’s potential to improve diagnostic speed and accuracy.
As a global leader in large-scale digital pathology rollouts, Fujifilm continues to set the standard for enterprise deployments that integrate precision medicine, streamlined workflows, and scalable cloud technology.
