Aarthi Scans and Labs has enhanced its medical imaging capabilities by installing India’s first helium-free 1.5 Tesla MRI system — Siemens Healthineers’ Magnetom Flow Plus — at its newly opened Whitefield centre in Bengaluru.

This milestone marks a step forward in patient-friendly and eco-conscious diagnostics.

Dr. Prasanna Vignesh, Radiologist and Executive Director, Aarthi Scans and Labs, said, “This helium-free MRI is a paradigm shift in medical imaging, delivering superior clinical outcomes while tackling environmental and economic challenges.”

Unlike conventional MRI systems that consume thousands of litres of liquid helium — a non-renewable, increasingly expensive resource — the Magnetom Flow Plus uses only 0.7 litres in a sealed, zero-loss design. This innovation eliminates the need for refills and prevents helium emissions, offering long-term operational efficiency.

Established in 1988 by V. Govindarajan, Aarthi Scans and Labs is India’s largest integrated diagnostics provider, operating 70+ MRI scanners, 71 CT scanners, and 20 processing labs, and serving over 8,000 patients daily in cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
