The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati inaugurated its Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) on October 15, 2025, marking a significant milestone in promoting high-quality, ethical, and patient-focused clinical research in Northeast India.
“This Clinical Trial Unit strengthens our mission to translate science into better health outcomes. It will enable investigators to conduct rigorous studies that address regional and national health priorities,” said Prof. Dr. Ashok Puranik, Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati, during the inauguration.
The CTU is expected to catalyze both investigator-initiated and sponsor-led trials, expand patient access to cutting-edge therapies, and develop a sustainable pipeline of research talent.
According to a press release, the unit will also foster multi-centre collaborations with national research networks and international partners, focusing on diseases that are of regional and national significance, thereby strengthening India’s clinical research ecosystem.
