UP Government Plans New Policy To Strengthen AYUSH Sector In The State

By Team VOH

The Uttar Pradesh government is set to introduce a new policy to boost the AYUSH sector in the state, aiming to strengthen infrastructure, attract investment and expand healthcare and wellness services.

The policy envisages Uttar Pradesh as a hub for AYUSH research and development, with a framework to support testing and certification of AYUSH medicines across systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

Under the proposed policy, a range of investor incentives will be offered, including capital subsidies, exemptions from stamp duty on land purchases and special concessions for greenfield projects. These measures are designed to accelerate expansion of industry capacity, encourage public-private partnerships in hospital and infrastructure development, and attract both domestic and global investors.

The policy also focuses on improving treatment facilities in existing AYUSH hospitals and continuously advancing the state’s AYUSH department. It aims to increase public access to AYUSH healthcare services while uplifting business activity in the sector.

To support sectoral growth, the policy proposes new educational courses related to AYUSH hospital operations and traditional systems like Ayurveda, Yoga and Homoeopathy, intended to enhance employment opportunities for the youth. It also emphasises developing the sector comprehensively with a focus on quality of care, staff recruitment and service delivery.

The move comes as the state government seeks to integrate traditional medicine more deeply into its healthcare ecosystem and expand its reach both within India and internationally.
