Tripura’s Dhalai To Get 50-Bed Critical Care Facility Under PM-ABHIM Scheme

By Team VOH

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sanctioned the construction of a 50-bed critical care block at Dhalai District Hospital in Tripura under the Pradhan Mantri–Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), strengthening advanced healthcare access in the state’s tribal and remote regions.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the new facility will significantly enhance trauma care, cardiac care and treatment for other serious illnesses at the district level, eliminating the need to refer critically ill patients to Agartala.

The project, with an estimated cost of ₹23.75 crore, is aimed at reducing delays in emergency treatment and easing the burden on tertiary hospitals in the state capital. Once operational, the critical care block is expected to improve the hospital’s capacity to manage medical emergencies locally and provide timely, life-saving interventions closer to patients’ homes.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to bridge gaps in healthcare infrastructure and ensure equitable access to quality medical services across Tripura.
