Ahead of the World Contraception Day 2025, Organon, a global healthcare company focused on women’s health, is collaborating with local partners to highlight the critical importance of equitable access to contraception and reproductive health services throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Under this year's theme, "Empower Women to Take Control," Organon is inspiring women across Asia Pacific to take charge of their reproductive health, with a campaign that emphasizes the role of informed choices in creating healthier futures for women and communities.
World Contraception Day raises awareness about the importance of access to contraception, enabling individuals to make informed decisions about their reproductive health. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to address barriers to contraceptive access and promote education to reduce the incidence of unintended pregnancies worldwide.
Despite progress, the region faces significant gaps in reproductive health access. According to the Guttmacher Institute, 132 million women in Asia who want to avoid pregnancy are not using modern contraception. Among adolescents aged 15–19, the unmet need is even more alarming at 51%, compared to 21% among all women aged 15–49.
Unintended pregnancies can interrupt education, limit career opportunities, and increase health risks for women, while placing additional strain on families, communities, and healthcare systems.
Dr. Cristina Crisologo, Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Medical Director for Organon Asia Pacific, emphasized the significance of World Contraception Day as a transformative movement. "World Contraception Day is not just a moment - it’s a movement. Every woman deserves the right to choose if and when to start a family. Access to contraception is not merely a matter of personal freedom; it is a critical public health and economic imperative, empowering women and girls to complete their education and fully participate in the workforce.”
Organon’s Commitment: A Pledge for Women’s Health
To mark World Contraception Day, Organon in Asia Pacific is launching a regional campaign inviting individuals to make a personal pledge for women’s health. For every pledge made on womenshealthvoice.com, Organon will donate USD $1 to support vulnerable women through United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with a total commitment of up to USD $18,000.
The campaign asks healthcare professionals and consumers: “Do you believe that women should have the freedom to take control of their reproductive health?” This powerful statement symbolizes ownership over one’s body, choices, and future.
Through this campaign, Organon is committed to transforming individual pledges into actionable support, ensuring that women throughout the Asia-Pacific region have the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their bodies, futures, and families.
How It Works:
1. Visit the campaign website - womenshealthvoice.com.
2. Make a pledge and place a pin on the interactive map.
3. Organon converts each pledge into a donation.
4. Donations will be distributed via UNFPA to markets in need across the Asia Pacific region.
