Karnataka to Boost Heart Care with Tele ECG and Cath Labs

The Karnataka government will soon introduce tele ECG systems in all taluk and primary health centers to enable early detection of potential heart attacks. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that under the Home Health Scheme, people above 30 years will be screened for non-communicable diseases and cardiac risk factors. This initiative aims to provide timely diagnosis, reduce cardiac fatalities, and ensure access to advanced care even in rural areas.

Expansion of Heart Care Facilities

The government is also planning state-of-the-art cath labs in Mangaluru, CV Raman Nagar (Bengaluru), and Hospet. The Dr Puneeth Rajkumar Hridaya Jyothi scheme will be expanded to all district and taluk hospitals, as well as community health centers, ensuring wider access to cardiac care. For acute heart attack cases requiring stents or bypass surgeries, patients will be referred to tertiary hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka (AB-ArK) scheme.
