Karnataka Govt Plans New 125-Bed Superspecialty Hospitals At Yelahanka, Sanjaynagar

By Team VOH

The Karnataka government has approved the construction of two state-of-the‑art superspecialty hospitals in Yelahanka and Sanjaynagar, Bengaluru, each with a capacity of 125 beds, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the northern parts of the city. The combined investment for the projects is ₹150 crore, and both facilities are expected to be completed by 2028.

Originally, the 2025‑26 state budget had proposed a single 200‑bed multispecialty hospital for North Bengaluru. After deliberation, authorities revised the plan to establish two separate hospitals to improve access and reduce travel time for residents in these rapidly growing urban areas.

The Yelahanka hospital will be developed on a five‑acre government land parcel at Bellahalli, while the Sanjaynagar facility will occupy four acres within the GKVK campus. Officials highlighted that the dual‑site approach is intended to cater more efficiently to healthcare demands across different neighbourhoods of North Bengaluru.

In addition to these projects, local representatives have emphasised for broader healthcare needs in surrounding regions, advocating for larger facilities and expanded clinical training resources to support both patient care and medical education across Karnataka.
