Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav jointly launched several healthcare and public welfare initiatives at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cultural Information Centre, Jabalpur.
The leaders virtually inaugurated newly built Government Medical Colleges in Sheopur and Singrauli, while agreements were signed under the PPP model to set up new colleges in Betul, Panna, Dhar, and Katni. Letters of Permission were also handed over for 100 MBBS seats each in the newly inaugurated colleges, enabling admissions to begin immediately.
To strengthen community healthcare, they launched Vay Vandana Cards for 8 lakh senior citizens, unveiled the Ayushman Sakhi Smart Chatbot, the ASHA Dialogue program, maternal nutrition awareness materials, and the Mother-Child Safety Card. The state also announced the successful screening of 1 crore people under its Healthy Liver Mission.
Highlighting India’s expanding medical education sector, Nadda said the country now has 780 medical colleges with 1.7 lakh MBBS seats, with plans to add 75,000 more in the next five years. He praised Madhya Pradesh for introducing MBBS courses in Hindi, helping rural students pursue medical studies in their native language.
Chief Minister Yadav noted the state’s rapid healthcare expansion — from 5 medical colleges in 2003 to 32 today (17 government, 13 private, and 2 newly inaugurated). He emphasized free air ambulance and mortuary services for the poor, the Rahveer Yojana for road accident victims, and said under PPP mode, 75% of seats in new colleges will be free for poor students. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tribal welfare and mission-mode healthcare expansion across districts.
