Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda met Mikhail Murashko, the Health Minister of the Russian Federation, in New Delhi to advance bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector. The meeting took place as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to India.

During the discussion, Nadda and Murashko reviewed key health sector priorities and agreed to boost collaboration across multiple areas. “Met Mr. Mikhail Murashko, Hon’ble Health Minister of Russian Federation today. Discussed various health sector-related issues and agreed to enhance bilateral collaboration and partnership in the health sector,” Nadda shared after the meeting.

He further noted that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring greater accessibility to affordable and quality healthcare.

The proposed cooperation is part of a broader effort by India and Russia to expand engagement beyond traditional areas such as defence and trade. Potential areas of collaboration include joint public health initiatives, medical technology exchange, pharmaceutical partnerships, and improved access to healthcare services.

President Putin is on a two-day visit to India and will hold the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. This marks his first visit to India since the onset of the Ukraine conflict.

During the visit, India and Russia are expected to sign several agreements across sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and trade. Around 10 intergovernmental documents and more than 15 commercial and non-commercial agreements are likely to be finalised.
