The Gujarat government has opened over 9,000 positions for women to serve as Anganwadi workers and helpers (Tedagar) under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). The initiative aims to combat malnutrition, improve child health, and create local employment opportunities for women. Applications are open online via the e-HRMS portal until August 30, 2025, for women aged 18 to 33 years.
This recruitment drive, guided by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Women & Child Development Minister Bhanu Babariya, is designed to provide employment at women’s doorsteps while strengthening community health and nutrition.
Kutch has the highest number of vacancies (619), followed by Amdavad Municipal Corporation (568), Banaskantha (547), Anand (394), and Mehsana (393). Selection will be based on district-wise merit, with priority for Tedagar workers with over 10 years of service for promotion to Anganwadi worker roles.
The minimum qualification for Anganwadi workers is a Class 12 pass or Class 10 plus a two-year AICTE-recognised course, while Tedagar posts require a Class 10 pass. Selected candidates will work in their local communities, focusing on children under six, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls.
Anganwadi workers will manage growth monitoring, health check-ups, vaccination coordination, preschool education, ration distribution, and nutrition programs. Tedagar workers will maintain hygiene, prepare nutritious meals, and ensure children’s safe transport.
Operating under ICDS, Anganwadis in Gujarat play a key role in maternal and child health, early education, malnutrition reduction, and bridging communities with essential government health services, even in remote areas.
