Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday that 168 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are currently operational across Delhi, with another 187 centres expected to be functional by December. These facilities are part of the Ayushman Bharat initiative, which aims to upgrade sub-health centres, primary health centres, and urban primary health centres into comprehensive healthcare hubs.
She noted that the Delhi Government would no longer run health centres from rented buildings, as sufficient government-owned spaces are now available. Gupta emphasised that the purpose of the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs is to provide accessible, standardised, and community-oriented healthcare. Unlike the earlier Mohalla Clinics—where limited infrastructure restricted service expansion—the new centres are equipped with improved facilities to deliver broader and more effective medical services.
The centres offer OPD care, free medicines, diagnostic tests via empanelled laboratories, maternal and antenatal services, neonatal and child health support, adolescent healthcare, family planning services, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, eye and ENT care, basic dental services, geriatric care, mental health screening, and emergency assistance.
Gupta affirmed that beyond service delivery, the government seeks to strengthen public trust in the healthcare system.
