CCRAS CARI Bengaluru Gears Up For Landmark International Conference On Obesity Treatment

By Team VOH

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, via its Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Bengaluru (CARI Bengaluru) will host a two‑day international conference on “Ayurveda and Integrative Approaches to Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome” from December 1–2, 2025 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, marking the 57th Foundation Day of CCRAS.

The conference, organised in collaboration with IISc and NIMHANS, aims to confront the escalating global challenge of obesity and metabolic disorders by promoting evidence‑based Ayurvedic and integrative medical approaches. This scientific gathering reflects a commitment to research‑driven integrative healthcare, seeking to bridge traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern biomedical standards and uphold the Ministry’s vision of advancing global health outcomes.

The academic agenda is robust: the event will feature plenary sessions, parallel scientific sessions, a dedicated symposium on translational science and integrative management of Type‑2 Diabetes, obesity and dyslipidaemia, along with a specialised workshop on Nanotechnology & Molecular Biology scheduled for December 2 at IISc’s TCS Smart‑X Hub. In addition, a health screening camp organised jointly by CARI, Samatvam and PathShodh will run across both days.

The conference is preceded by virtual scientific deliberations held from November 25–27, 2025. The organisers plan to release a special issue of CCRAS’s research journal along with ten other books focusing on obesity and metabolic disorders — signalling a push toward consolidating and disseminating recent integrative‑health research.

The scale of participation is significant: over 700 delegates are expected to attend, contributing through 267 oral presentations, 120 virtual paper presentations, 70 poster presentations, and 16 keynote and plenary talks by eminent scientists, clinicians and researchers from India and abroad. The event is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration across Ayurveda, conventional medicine, life sciences and public health.

By bringing together leading domestic and international experts and offering a platform for dialogue, innovation and evidence‑based research, this conference underscores CCRAS‑CARI Bengaluru’s dedication to advancing integrative healthcare models.
