Medivalley Expands at AMTZ: Boosting India’s MedTech Innovation

Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), India’s premier medical equipment manufacturing hub near Visakhapatnam, has launched a new one lakh sq. ft. tower to accelerate MedTech innovation.

The state-of-the-art facility combines advanced laboratories, rapid prototyping units, regulatory support systems, and co-working spaces—creating an ecosystem where startups can seamlessly innovate, test, and scale. Designed as a collaborative hub, the tower integrates creative interiors, activity zones, and R&D spaces to nurture research-driven entrepreneurship.

Anchored by AIC-AMTZ Medivalley Incubation, India’s leading MedTech incubator, the expansion doubles startup incubation capacity from 150 to 300 by FY 2026. Medivalley offers not only infrastructure but also funding pathways through DBT-BIRAC, NITI Aayog, DPIIT, ICMR, and the Department of Pharmaceuticals, while connecting startups to global platforms such as WHO, World Health Innovation Forum, TiE, and IASP.

From surgical needles to surgical robotics and AI-driven wearables, the facility is poised to fast-track commercialization for Indian startups with global ambitions. Over the past five years, Medivalley has incubated 150+ startups, facilitated 40+ research outcomes, and enabled patents and technology transfers.

Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Executive Chairman of AIC-AMTZ Medivalley, emphasized, “The expansion of Medivalley is not just about more space—it’s about creating capacity for India’s next generation of MedTech leaders. Every idea, however small, will find an ecosystem to scale into products impacting lives globally.”

With upcoming 50,000 sq. ft. incubation hubs and partnerships with IBSC, Biovalley, MedTech University, IIM Vizag, and IIT Tirupati, Medivalley continues to strengthen India’s Make-in-India mission. Achievements include NABL-accredited labs, BIS recognition, CDSCO registration, and ISO/IEC 17025 certification.

Led by CEO Dr. Dilip Kumar Chekuri, recipient of the AAMI John D. Hughes Iconoclast Award, Medivalley has mobilized ₹60+ crore in grants and signed alliances with 150+ corporates and 50+ academic institutions. Recognized as India’s Best MedTech Incubator by NITI Aayog, it has also earned awards such as CII MedTech Quality Champion (Platinum) and Best Ecosystem Enabler (AIM Congress, Dubai).

Startups testify to its impact. Dr. Nidun Jacob, founder of Griva Healthcare, shared, “At Medivalley, we didn’t just get an incubation space—we got mentors, prototyping labs, testing facilities, and investors, all under one roof. This kind of support is rare in India’s MedTech space.”

Medivalley’s new tower firmly positions AMTZ as a global epicenter of MedTech innovation, empowering startups to take Indian healthcare solutions to the world.
