Johnson & Johnson’s medtech division has launched the Polyphonic AI Fund for Surgery, partnering with major tech players like Nvidia and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to integrate artificial intelligence into surgical care. The initiative is designed to accelerate the development of AI tools that enhance care before, during, and after surgery.
The fund invites proposals from startups, academic institutions, and established companies, with selected applicants eligible to receive grants of up to $100,000. A review committee—including representatives from Nvidia and AWS—will evaluate the submissions and choose the awardees.
In addition to funding, the program will offer mentorship, technical development workshops, and access to advanced tech stacks, including computing infrastructure, AI modeling toolkits, and datasets. Importantly, intellectual property will remain with the original developers.
