Hanahealth By DSS Drives IVF Innovation In India With GERI Time-Lapse Incubator

By Team VOH

Hanahealth by DSS Imagetech has rolled out the GERI Time-Lapse Incubator across India in a bid to modernise IVF laboratory processes and improve clinical outcomes for fertility treatment. The next-generation incubation system, distributed nationally by Hanahealth as the authorised partner of Sydney-based Genea Biomedx, is designed for IVF clinics, research centres and labs pursuing digital transformation, accreditation and higher pregnancy success rates.

GERI provides continuous, undisturbed monitoring of embryo development in a stable culture environment, enabling infertility specialists to observe key developmental stages in real time and make more informed decisions on embryo selection.

Each incubator features six independent chambers, each equipped with its own high-resolution camera that captures detailed time-lapse images of embryo growth every five minutes across multiple focal planes, supporting precision in embryo assessment and helping reduce the risk of selecting non-viable embryos.

The system addresses limitations of traditional periodic embryo assessments under microscopes, which can interrupt culture conditions and rely on subjective judgement, by continuously tracking development without disturbance. GERI’s integrated imaging and controlled environment aim to enhance consistency in embryo grading, build confidence among patients and clinicians, and potentially contribute to improved pregnancy outcomes.

The technology, currently available in India exclusively through Hanahealth by DSS, is already in use at leading fertility centres including Krishna IVF Clinic in Visakhapatnam and Shanthi Shell Fertility in Bengaluru.
