Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) marked its 53rd Foundation Day with the rollout of new mobility solutions and a refreshed brand identity, reinforcing its push toward modern, technology-driven assistive devices for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
At the event, the corporation unveiled two major additions to its product line: a new electric scooter and a motorised attachment designed to convert a standard manual wheelchair into a powered mobility aid. Both devices have been developed to improve personal mobility, reduce dependence on caregivers and offer affordable transport solutions for people with restricted movement.
The electric scooter features a three-wheel configuration aimed at providing greater stability and ease of control. It is engineered for use in urban and semi-urban environments, allowing users to travel short to medium distances with improved safety and convenience. ALIMCO’s design focuses on accessible controls, comfortable seating, and functionality suited to individuals with varying mobility needs.
Alongside the scooter, the organisation introduced a compact clip-on motorised unit that can be fitted to a conventional wheelchair. The attachment uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery system, enabling users to move independently without manual effort. By transforming a basic wheelchair into a powered mobility device, ALIMCO aims to expand mobility options for users who may not be able to afford a full electric wheelchair.
The Foundation Day celebrations also included the unveiling of ALIMCO’s revamped corporate logo. The new design, centred around a modern purple theme, reflects the corporation’s evolving focus on innovation, user-centric design and next-generation assistive technology. The updated branding marks a shift toward a more contemporary organisational outlook as ALIMCO broadens its technology portfolio.
The corporation stated that the introduction of these devices aligns with its ongoing commitment to delivering cost-effective, high-quality mobility aids across India. With the launch of the EV scooter and wheelchair add-on, ALIMCO aims to address increasing mobility needs and contribute to a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.
The Foundation Day event highlighted ALIMCO’s continued efforts to enhance accessibility through research, product development and large-scale distribution of assistive devices. The new launches form part of its broader mission to strengthen independence, dignity and mobility for millions of users nationwide.
