Ujala Cygnus Founder Dr Shuchin Bajaj Appointed to NABH Board

Dr Shuchin Bajaj — renowned physician, social entrepreneur, and founder-director of Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services — has been appointed to the Board of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI).

Dr Bajaj brings extensive clinical expertise, policy experience, and a distinguished academic background to the role. He holds an MBBS from PGIMS Rohtak, an MD in Internal Medicine from Dr. SNMC Jodhpur, and multiple prestigious fellowships, including FICP, FRSA, FIACM, A.P.S.M. (IIM Calcutta), the Chevening Gurukul Fellowship (King’s College London), the Innovating Health for Tomorrow Fellowship (INSEAD, France), the Aspire Fellowship, and the Senior Fellowship at Aspen New Voices. He has also completed the Stanford Seed Transformation Program.

Today, Ujala Cygnus operates 27 hospitals across Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana, with a combined capacity of 3,000 beds and a workforce of more than 5,100 employees. The network is supported by outreach clinics and digital health services offering free teleconsultations, aimed at ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare regardless of geography, income or social status.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Bajaj is deeply involved in healthcare innovation, policy and philanthropy. He serves on the boards of several national NGOs as an advisor for health programmes and contributes to the healthcare track of Xynteo’s India2022 coalition. He is also an active healthcare investor, mentoring and backing multiple health-tech startups, and sits on the TBIU Board of FITT, IIT Delhi. He previously served on the Advisory Council to the former Union Minister of State for Health and works closely with the Delhi Health Minister.
