The pediatric cardiac team at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital has successfully saved the life of a 15-day-old newborn battling critical Aortic Stenosis, showcasing the hospital’s advanced expertise in high-risk neonatal cardiac care.

The baby, born to a migrant worker family from Aurangabad and living in Erode, was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. After a thorough evaluation, the medical team diagnosed the infant with critical aortic stenosis and severe left ventricular dysfunction — a life-threatening condition requiring immediate intervention.

With no time to lose, the pediatric cardiac team performed an emergency Balloon Aortic Valvotomy, which was carried out successfully, restoring the baby’s heart function and offering hope for a healthy future. This achievement reflects the power of teamwork, timely intervention, and compassionate care.

Neonatologists Siddhartha and Suja stabilized the fragile newborn, while Pediatric Cardiologist Devaprasath S led the diagnosis and performed the life-saving procedure. Cardiac Anesthetists Manikandan and Menon ensured safe anesthesia, supported by Cardiac Surgeon Vijay Sadasivam who provided crucial surgical backup. The NICU and Cath Lab Nursing Staff were instrumental, delivering precision and compassion throughout the procedure.

The successful outcome was further guided by Medical Director Rajagopal and MS Alagappan, whose leadership continues to inspire the hospital’s commitment to excellence.

A special note of gratitude goes to Saranya and the SK Foundation, whose sponsorship made this life-saving treatment possible for the underprivileged family, reflecting the profound impact of humanitarian efforts in healthcare.

This case exemplifies how timely medical action, advanced expertise, and compassionate support can come together to achieve miracles. Sri Ramakrishna Hospital remains at the forefront of pediatric cardiac care in Coimbatore, delivering world-class treatments and hope to families across the region.
