NSE to Invest ₹380 Crore in Tata Memorial Hospital’s New Cancer Care and BMT Centre at Navi Mumbai

The country’s largest equity bourse, NSE, announced on Sunday that it will invest ₹380 crore to establish a state-of-the-art facility to support cancer treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH). The upcoming 11-storey multi-speciality hospital block and bone marrow transplant (BMT) centre, to be known as the NSE Hospital Block, will be developed at TMH’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Navi Mumbai

According to an official statement, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project—being constructed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T)—was held on Sunday. The BMT centre is set to become the largest of its kind in India, catering to an estimated 1.3 lakh OPD visits annually, performing over 600 BMT procedures every year, and housing 60 inpatient beds

Funded under NSE’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the project will span 2.4 lakh sq. ft. and is expected to be operational by July 2027. The NSE Foundation has partnered with TMH’s ACTREC for the initiative, which was approved by the NSE board in March 2023

“Our aim is to support the healthcare needs of cancer patients and their families, and to contribute meaningfully to the fight against cancer in India. We believe this project will have a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of patients each year,” said Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSE.

Highlighting the urgent need for such a facility, TMC Director Dr. Sudeep Gupta stated, “Thousands of patients are currently awaiting the BMT treatment. The new hospital block will address a critical gap in specialized services for treating comorbidities—such as cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, renal and gastroenterological conditions—in cancer patients. Until now, ACTREC has functioned as a standalone cancer centre, forcing patients to seek medical care for such conditions at other hospitals.”
