Navi Mumbai International Airport Partners with Apollo Hospitals for 24x7 Medical Services

By Team VOH

In a significant move to bolster passenger safety and emergency preparedness, Navi Mumbai International Airport (Pvt) Ltd (NMIAL) has entered into a partnership with Apollo Hospitals, Mumbai, to deliver round-the-clock healthcare services at the upcoming airport. The collaboration is aimed at ensuring comprehensive medical support for both passengers and airport personnel ahead of the airport’s commercial launch.

As part of the agreement, a 24x7 medical centre will be established at Terminal 1, staffed by a team of three doctors, eight nurses, and two drivers, all certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). The facility will be equipped to manage emergencies and disaster situations, providing immediate care within the airport premises.

To strengthen emergency preparedness, NMIA will deploy two fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ambulances and install 65 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across terminals. These measures are designed to enhance rapid response capabilities, particularly for cardiac and other life-threatening medical situations.

According to NMIAL, Apollo Hospitals’ proximity—just four kilometres from the airport—and its robust medical infrastructure make it the ideal healthcare partner. Apollo will oversee on-site medical operations and provide continuous emergency response support, further integrating healthcare into NMIA’s broader disaster management framework.

Developed as a greenfield aviation hub, Navi Mumbai International Airport is being built under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL)—a subsidiary of Adani Airports Holdings Limited, holding a 74% stake—and CIDCO, which holds the remaining 26%.

Spread across 1,160 hectares, NMIA is expected to handle 20 million passengers annually in its first phase, with future expansion planned to accommodate up to 90 million passengers through two parallel runways and state-of-the-art cargo facilities.
