Critically ill patients at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of District MMG Hospital, Ghaziabad, are set to benefit from advanced medical support through a collaboration with Yashoda Medicity, Indirapuram. An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two hospitals is expected to be signed shortly.
As a first step, a three-member team from Yashoda Medicity visited MMG Hospital’s ICU on Monday to assess existing medical infrastructure and equipment. Currently, the hospital has a five-bed ICU, which will be digitised under the new partnership. This upgrade will enable real-time consultations between doctors at both hospitals via video conferencing.
A central control room and a 24-hour internet facility will be established to ensure seamless coordination. According to CMS Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh,
"The initiative will significantly improve the quality of critical care and bridge the gap between public and private healthcare services."
Yashoda Medicity, equipped with modern facilities and specialist doctors, will assist MMG Hospital in enhancing the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of ICU patients. The collaboration will also include data exchange, joint training programmes, and round-the-clock patient monitoring. If successful, authorities plan to expand the number of ICU beds in the future.
The ICU at MMG Hospital, inaugurated in December 2024, has faced challenges due to a shortage of ventilator beds, manpower, and compatible surgical equipment. This new partnership aims to address these gaps and strengthen the hospital’s critical care capabilities.
Meanwhile, a medical board has been set up to verify the age of 72 contractual gardeners employed by the Municipal Corporation, following a court directive linking salary increments to verified age.
The board, comprising a radiologist, orthopaedic specialist, dental specialist, and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), is examining five to ten gardeners daily. The verification process includes X-rays, dental examinations, and other medical tests, according to CMS Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh.
