Medtronic has launched a state‑of‑the‑art Mobile Surgi‑Skill Lab in India to expand access to advanced surgical training for young surgeons and healthcare professionals, particularly in underserved tier‑2 cities where specialised training has been limited.
The Mobile Surgi‑Skill Lab is designed as a travelling centre of excellence, equipped with cutting‑edge simulation technology, realistic training models, video‑assisted surgical instruments and interactive learning platforms to enable hands‑on skill development in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) without disrupting clinicians’ regular duties.
The training curriculum includes both fundamental and advanced MIS techniques with specialised tracks tailored to the evolving needs of regional healthcare facilities, and each engagement provides practice sessions and post‑training support to sustain skill development.
This initiative directly addresses disparities in surgical training by bringing high‑quality educational resources to hospitals and medical colleges outside metropolitan hubs, ensuring young surgeons and resident doctors in tier‑2 and tier‑3 cities can access the same level of training as larger centres. By bridging this skill gap, the Mobile Surgi‑Skill Lab is expected to enhance surgical safety, reduce complication rates and foster wider adoption of minimally invasive procedures across regional healthcare systems.
Medtronic has partnered with leading healthcare institutions and regional medical associations to deploy the lab, with an initial roadmap that includes planned visits to 10 tier‑2 cities over the next 12 months, and further expansion based on feedback and demand.
