Maxivision Expands in Chennai with 10 New Eye Hospitals and Launches Advanced Vision Correction Technology

Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals, one of India’s fastest-growing eye care chains, has announced a major expansion in Chennai with the launch of 10 new eye hospitals and vision centres across the city. This strategic move is backed by a ₹100 crore investment, marking a significant step in Maxivision’s mission to provide accessible, advanced, and community-focused eye care throughout Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

Already present in cities like Trichy, Madurai, Salem, Tanjore, Kumbakonam, and Perambalur, Maxivision plans to extend its reach to all districts and towns across the state, ensuring high-quality ophthalmic services are available closer to where people live.

Adding to this milestone, MS Dhoni inaugurated SiLK Elita, Chennai’s first flapless, blade-free laser vision correction procedure at Maxivision’s Anna Nagar facility. This cutting-edge technology offers patients a pain-free experience, faster recovery (as early as the next day), and reduced risk of dry eye, setting a new benchmark in laser vision correction.

Dr. GSK Velu, Chairman & Managing Director of Maxivision, stated:“Our arrival in Chennai—where our corporate headquarters is located—has been long overdue. With this expansion, we take a strategic leap into a high-potential, high-demand market. This launch, graced by MS Dhoni, aligns with our vision to build a robust, decentralised eye care infrastructure that addresses growing cases of cataract, retinal disorders, glaucoma, and more. It also fosters local employment and talent development for ophthalmologists and allied professionals.”

Dr. Shibu Varkey, Regional Medical Director, added:“Our goal is to bring state-of-the-art eye care to underserved and middle-income populations across Tamil Nadu. By prioritizing early diagnosis and preventive care, these centres will help tackle conditions like diabetic retinopathy, cataract, and glaucoma early—ultimately lowering the long-term burden of eye disease in the region.”Prof. Dr. B Ganesh, Clinical & Academic Director, noted:“This expansion is a milestone in delivering world-class eye care to every part of Greater Chennai. We’re also launching academic initiatives to train ophthalmologists, optometrists, counsellors, and paramedical staff across Tamil Nadu, as part of our CSR commitment to skill-building and public health advancement.”

With this launch, Maxivision strengthens its role as a pioneer in India’s eye care ecosystem, committed to innovation, affordability, and equitable access for all.
