KGMU Performs UP’s First Coroventis-Guided Cardiac Procedure

By Team VOH

King George's Medical University (KGMU) has performed the first-ever use of the Coroventis System in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in advanced cardiac care in the state.

The procedure was carried out by the Department of Cardiology at KGMU, introducing coronary physiology-guided assessment for patients presenting with angina despite non-critical coronary artery disease. The Coroventis System enables advanced evaluation of coronary function, helping clinicians identify functionally significant lesions, guide evidence-based treatment decisions, avoid unnecessary stenting, and deliver more personalized revascularisation strategies.

The adoption of the technology is expected to strengthen physiology-guided interventions and promote rational, patient-centred coronary care in complex clinical scenarios where conventional angiography may not fully explain persistent symptoms.

The initiative was supported by visiting expert Dr Ludovica Maltese from Milan. The cases were led by Dr Monica Bhandari, Dr Ayush Shukla and Dr Abhishek Singh, with support from Dr Rishi Sethi, Dr Sharad Chandra, Dr Akshyaya Pradhan, Dr Gaurav Chowdhary and Dr Akhil Sharma.

KGMU stated that the integration of advanced global technologies into academic clinical practice reflects its commitment to enhancing cardiovascular treatment capabilities within Uttar Pradesh.
