IGH Dwarka Sees Expansion In Dialysis, Diagnostics & OT Services With Delhi Govt Push

By Team VOH

The Delhi government has expanded key healthcare services at Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGH), Dwarka, as part of its broader push to strengthen public health infrastructure and ease patient load in west Delhi.

The upgrade includes a significant increase in dialysis capacity, with the number of units rising from 35 to 50 to cater to the growing demand for renal care. To improve emergency and trauma services, the hospital has also commissioned a new 500 mA X-ray machine, enhancing diagnostic imaging capabilities.

Surgical services at the hospital have been scaled up with operation theatres now functioning from 8 am to 8 pm, a move expected to reduce waiting times for procedures and improve overall surgical efficiency.

The hospital has also introduced new specialised services. Corneal retrieval services have been launched in collaboration with AIIMS to encourage eye donation and support corneal transplant programmes.

In addition, the Brain Health Clinic, inaugurated in May 2025, is operating as an integrated facility offering neurological and mental health care, treating a high volume of neurology and psychiatry patients each day.

The expansion is expected to provide more comprehensive and timely care, while reducing the burden on patients who otherwise seek treatment at over-stretched tertiary hospitals in the capital.
