Hisar’s Jindal Hospital Becomes First In North India To Deploy SkyWalker™️ Orthopedic Robotic System

By Team VOH

Hisar’s Jindal Institute of Medical Sciences (JIMS) has become the first medical institution in North India to deploy the SkyWalker™ Orthopedic Robotic System for knee replacement surgeries. Introduced in collaboration with U.S.-based MicroPort Orthopedics Inc., the system marks a significant advancement in orthopedic care across Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

JIMS, a 580-bed multi-superspecialty hospital established in 1968, has a long history of serving the healthcare needs of millions in the region. The institution emphasizes patient-centric care, clinical excellence, and a commitment to advancing medical technology to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients.

MicroPort Orthopedics, operating in over 100 countries, brings decades of orthopedic expertise and clinical evidence to support improved patient outcomes and provider satisfaction. Its collaboration with JIMS positions the hospital as a regional leader in robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, offering patients access to cutting-edge technology aligned with global standards.

The SkyWalker™ system is the only orthopedic robotic platform globally integrated with a patented True Medial-Pivot Knee philosophy, offering sub-millimeter precision for accurate joint alignment. Its technology is designed to improve stability, enhance functional outcomes, and support faster recovery, enabling patients to resume activities such as walking long distances or climbing stairs more comfortably and confidently.

The system is fully compatible with the Evolution® Medial-Pivot Knee implant, which closely mimics natural knee motion and has demonstrated high patient satisfaction and long-term durability worldwide. Together, the robotic platform and implant aim to address challenges associated with conventional knee replacement, including instability and residual pain, and provide customized joint reconstruction even in complex cases.

The introduction of SkyWalker™ reflects JIMS’ ongoing commitment to advancing orthopedic care through precision and innovation. The hospital serves as a major healthcare hub in rural and semi-urban areas of Haryana, Punjab, and adjoining regions of Rajasthan, where the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis among the elderly is significant, with many patients presenting with advanced or severe joint deformities.
