Healthcare on Wheels: NLCIL’s New Mobile Van Brings Doctors To Odisha’s Hard-to-Reach Villages

By Team VOH

NLC India Limited has rolled out a Mobile Medical Dispensary Van to expand healthcare access to villages affected by its coal-mining operations in Odisha. The van will serve the project-affected villages of Machhakata and New Patrapara South Open Cast Project (OCP), providing much-needed primary medical services to communities that often lack easy access to hospitals or clinics.

The dispensary van was inaugurated on November 25, 2025 at the Community Health Centre in Chhendipada, marking the start of the outreach programme targeted at remote villages near NLCIL’s mining operations.

Staffed with a qualified medical practitioner and paramedical personnel, the van will provide routine medical consultations, health check-ups, preventive care and general medical support to villagers directly, eliminating the barrier of travel to distant health facilities.

This initiative is part of NLCIL’s broader social responsibility effort to improve the quality of life in areas around its operational sites. Through this mobile health-care outreach, NLCIL aims to strengthen medical access for underserved populations in remote and project-affected areas, reflecting a commitment to community welfare and sustainable development beyond its core energy and mining operations.
