Aster DM Healthcare Launches ₹190-Crore Multispecialty Hospital in Kasaragod

Aster DM Healthcare has inaugurated Aster MIMS Kasaragod, a ₹190-crore, 264-bed multispecialty hospital with over 30 specialties, bringing advanced healthcare services to Kerala’s northernmost district.

The hospital was officially opened on October 2 by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in the presence of Aster Group Chairman Dr Azad Moopen and Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao

Located at Indira Nagar in Chengala, the 2.1 lakh sq. ft. facility has been developed as a regional hub for tertiary care. It houses a 20-bed emergency department, 61 ICU beds, seven major and two minor operation theatres, a 16-bed neonatal ICU, and 15 dialysis beds

Equipped with advanced medical technologies, including a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner and a 160-slice CT machine, the hospital offers round-the-clock accident and trauma services. Specialized offerings include advanced cardiology and vascular interventions, oncology with chemotherapy units, and critical-care services such as ECMO/ECLS and haemadsorption therapy for conditions like snakebite, sepsis, and respiratory distress.

A team of around 60 doctors across multiple disciplines, supported by trained nurses and allied healthcare staff, forms the hospital’s core clinical strength.

Dr Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, said, “The launch of Aster MIMS Kasaragod is a momentous milestone, as we further strengthen our presence in Kerala with our 8th hospital in the state.”

“With this new 264-bed, state-of-the-art facility, we are bringing advanced medical technologies, comprehensive specialities, and expert care closer to the people of Northern Kerala,” he added.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan remarked, “It is heartening to see Aster, with its long-standing legacy in healthcare, taking another important step in Kerala.”

The hospital is also expected to generate over 600 direct and indirect employment opportunities, creating roles for doctors, nurses, paramedics, and support staff in the region. For patients, the facility will significantly reduce referrals to Mangaluru, Kannur, and other cities, addressing a long-standing gap in Kasaragod’s healthcare infrastructure.

With this launch, Aster DM Healthcare now operates eight hospitals in Kerala and 20 across India. The group has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding into tier-2 and underserved regions, with a strategy focused on delivering affordable and accessible tertiary care

In addition, the group is developing a cross-border medical value travel corridor to connect patients across regions, further positioning itself as a leading pan-Asian healthcare provider.
