AIIMS New Delhi has been awarded the highest national ranking and the top honour for overall performance and institutional excellence at the DHR–ICMR Health Research Excellence Summit 2025. The event, organised by the Department of Health Research and the Indian Council of Medical Research, was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Singh Patel, who emphasised India’s growing contributions to health innovation and highlighted national achievements such as MedTech Mitra, Rotavac, and the Covid-19 vaccines.

The “Overall Performance Excellence (Gold)” recognition reflects AIIMS New Delhi’s strong performance across multiple dimensions of health research. The assessment considered research output and quality, innovation and translation, the institute’s public-health impact, capacity-building initiatives, and its record of collaborative projects and competitive external funding. The institute pointed to its sustained production of high-impact scientific publications, success in translating laboratory research into diagnostics and therapeutic solutions, contributions to national health policies, and ongoing mentorship of emerging researchers.

AIIMS noted that this honour reinforces its position as a national leader in combining patient care, education, and cutting-edge research to yield tangible benefits for public health. The institute also highlighted its long-standing commitment to scientific excellence and societal impact.

AIIMS Director Dr. M. Srinivas extended congratulations to faculty members, researchers, students, and staff, acknowledging the award as a collective achievement that reflects the commitment and dedication of the entire AIIMS community toward advancing science, service, and innovation.
